Torque Converter?? Replies needed ASAP

Okay so I was working on my car yesterday... The only gear that will pull when it is on the ground is reverse. Well I jacked the front end up yesterday and put it in drive and the front wheels were spinning just fine and it was even changing through gears all the way to 80 mph and then I let off and did it a couple of more times. The wheels will move foward and the tranny will change through gears when it is not on the ground but when it is then it doesnt have enough torque to pull the car so it goes nowhere. Is this my torque converter that has gone bad? Please let me know ASAP because I am repairing it this weekend.

It is possible but I have never heard of one slipping like that. However I have more commonly heard of torque converters locking up. Did you check the fluid? If the transmission is low on fluid the torque converter will empty and not engage. Other than that it seems you may need to rebuild it. Good Luck.

Tranny is toast. Reason it will move when in the air because the tires arent pushing against anything so the tranny can actually move them without slipping.
