2005 G3500 Express Keyless Entry

Hi all,

My first post on the board. This looks like a great place to learn a lot. I have searched the archives and cannot find anywhere this question may have already been posted.

We recently purchased a 2005 G3500 with one remote key. We bought a second one and have tried to progam it. Unfortunately, the instructions that came with it are for a 2001-2002 Chevy SUV (using the ignition on/off/on/off cycle) or 2001-2004 Astro (using the key in the ignition cylinder lock cycle), neither of which worked.

Any ideas how to get into programming mode in the 2005 Express? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Detlef

Re: 2005 G3500 Express Keyless Entry

Just a follow up to my previous post. It turns out about half the express vans are shipped without the feature to allow programming via the key.

In these vans, you have to use the scan tool. For me, all it took was a trip over to the dealer where I bought it, and they had the new keyless remote programmed in (actually they had to have both remotes at the same time to reprogram the vehicle).

Happy trails,

Detlef
