Completed: Porsche GT3 Widebody Custom

It's been a while since I've posted anything new. This is the reason why...
It's Tamiya's GT3 and my first attempt at a custom build. Overall, I'm happy with the result even though it has it flaws. Some things I can live with and I'll chalk it up to a learning experience and others I'm going to have to fix. I'll be lowering it a bit more for starters.

The car is a combination of the Tamiya GT3 chassis, and interior, both pretty much out of the box with the exception of the Eduard PE Seatbelts that I added to the red and gray colored interior. The body was widened using the fenders from an old Monogram 911 Turbo Slant nose kit, grafted on to the GT3 body and smoothed in with putty. The roof scoop is from a Revell Pro-Stock Firebird, It's the top surface only from the massive hood scoop those cars have. I added a strip of styrene to widen it and then smoothed it in with putty. The front end was opened up and screen was used to fill it back in. The hood extractor was cut in and then reshaped with styrene and putty. The wheels are CE28N's from Aoshima with a trim ring added to the rears and painted with Testors Magnesium Metealizer, the brakes are from Tamiya NSX racer and the tires are from Maisto F430. The front splitter is made from styrene sheet and the rear wing is a modified wing out of the parts box, both covered with CF.

The Paint is Tamiya Metallic Black, cleared and polished. I chose to do the window trims in flat black for more contrast against the body color.

Although I'm happy with it, I did reach a point where I was ready to be done with it and not work on it any more (which is why it still needs lowering.. haha). Some valuable lessons learned that will be applied to the next one..... someday

Thanks to friends Veryon, CADguy and ZoomZoom for the encouragement to try something new and see it through!!

Nice work! I'd like to see it a bit lower too (as you noted). Still, looks good as is. Everything is blended in just perfectly. Nicely done. Thanks for the pics.

Re: Completed: Porsche GT3 Widebody Custom

Congrats on your first mega successful custom! You were very methodic about this build and that all came from your natural talent....us ACME bastages just had to spur you a bit to do some out of the box thinking.

Can't wait to see it in person this weekend when you come up to finish some of my customs.

Re: Completed: Porsche GT3 Widebody Custom

Beautiful work. Very clean and precise build. The color's a dead ringer for Porsche's Slate Grey Metallic.

flaws? you say this has flaws?
Wow, best flawed model I have seen in a long time!
The car looks incredible. I like the stance myself.
Great Job!
