water pump replacement

I've just had a quote for $400 for replacement of water pump on my 1992 acura integra. Is this price competitive and how easy would it be to do teh work myself? Do I need to remove timing belt/altenator? Any special tools needed? Thanks for any advice

I do not know the price cuz I always do it my self, but in order to do your water pump you will have to take out your timing belt and all the other belts to get to it. So while you are at it you might want to do a full tune up and belt change. good luck. stefan525

But in order to take off the timing belt, you have to remove the driver side motor mount. It's alot of work but it would be a good idea to do a tuneup and everything. It just depends on how much work you wanna do or if you just want to pay $400.
