Dyno Advice
I am getting my car on the dyno next week and I am wondering what things I can do to help produce better numbers. Is there anything that will make any difference whether it be minuscule or not. Someone told me to change the oil the day prior but that doesn't seem like it would matter. I plan to run 100 octane in the car and put in fuel injector cleaner to make sure I am spraying well.
Do I just sound retarded?

Re: Dyno Advice
100 octane in what?
That wont give you more power unless the motor is built to run on that, itll actually not burn completely and cost you power, stick with 93 or 89/91. The oil will help quite a bit more then 100 octane will, the fuel injector cleaner sounds good but put it in a week or two ahead of time and let it work its way back out before you test.

Re: Dyno Advice
unless your car is tuned for 100 octane or your car is detonating, 100 octane will do absolutely nothing. In fact, it may even hurt performance since it burns slower.
This is a very hard question to answer since we dont know what car you have or what mods you have or are available for your platform. Im guessing your not looking for answers like buy an exhaust system, nitrous. Somethings you can do though, is clean the intake manifolds/heads from all the carbon build up. Disassemble them and clean them with some Berrymans B12 cleaner. Im not sure, if you have an intake kit or anything on the car, but make sure the intake piping is as straight and level as possible. You dont want any turbulent air flowing into the engine. You could optimize the throttle body which consists of removing one side of the throttle body shaft, flush mounted screws, and knife-edged throttle body plate. Im sure theres more, but your question is very general.

Re: Dyno Advice
OK, here's the situation. I am driving a 2003 Nissan Maxima with the 3.5L. I have had Cattman Y-pipe, high flow cat, Cattman Exhaust. The airbox has been replaced with a Berk Short Ram intake with the A'pexi power filter. The exhaust mods have about 6k miles on them and about 2,000 on the intake
The car has 46,00 miles on it and ran 184hp with just a K&N panel air filter. I have been using Mobil1 for the last 20k miles and run an injector cleaner with every other oil change. Is there an oil filter that is better than others?

Re: Dyno Advice
why are you getting dynoed?? Are you getting tuned...because if not i think its kind of a waste unless you just want bragging rights, but even then i don't think you're going to have much....

Re: Dyno Advice
3 runs on a dyno for $45 to see if my $1300 parts are running the way the manufacturers say they do is in fact so worth it. I also want to see how rich or lean the car is running on paper. Having numbers is pretty important to me.

Re: Dyno Advice
Yeah, I know I could have saved a few dollars and sacrificed some power, but I wanted the most the market had to offer without making a custom set-up. I don't have THAT much money.
