95 Tracker w/Plow- have you ever??
The other day I went to look at a Tracker (I'm sorry it was a Samurai - same thing eh?) a 95 Samurai JL (whatever JL means) 5spd with a plow on it. A small electric plow but a plow none the less. My 1st thought was this can't work too good. I think the plow is heavier than the Sammy.
Unfortunately it had NO heat, no title, & was loaded with rust, the back door would NOT open. It idled high @ 1500 while warming up. He dropped the price right away from $2000 to $1500. He didn't let me drive it but went for a ride, I noticed the shocks seemed shot & the steering wheel was way off. I told him I would have to think more about it. When I did think about it, I thought hey I can do the driveway w/o getting out in the snow, wind, etc. Maybe won't need the snowblower anymore. When I called him back, he claimed he decided not to sell it. My question is - have you ever seen a vehicle like this with a plow? Do you think it would hold up if I bouhgt one w/o a plow & decided to put one on? Any thoughts? Experience with something like this? Thanks, Gumby_CT

Although Samurais share some components they aren't the same as a Tracker. The Sidekick is the Tracker's evil anime twin.

I believe they are also a bit smaller. Which makes it more amazing to me. So far I am guessing no one has seen or used one with a plow?

Re: 95 Tracker w/Plow- have you ever??
Trackers are a little too light, structurally, for plowing. The plow sub frame would probably have to be attached somewhere behind the front axle. Seems like everything ahead of that point is a crumple zone. I know from my son's experience that if you hit a stationary object at 15mph or greater the crumple zones activate and will distort all the way back to the shock tower. The good news is that a 10 ton porta-power will pull the accordian out of the bent section. Nearly good as new but you loose most of the energy absorption qualities of the crumple zones.
