Unhappy Help with written off Jimmy to get back on her Feet

My baby got slammed at the rear drivers’ side wheel by a mini van, and now the axle appears to be bent. There is another 1992 Jimmy in the lot that I can score off the rear axle, bumper and rear window.

What do I need to check to see if the gear ratios match? Or is it a given that since they are the same year (not sure about the VIN # yet) that they would have the same gear ratio?

When I remove the drive shaft from the rear differential by means of the universal joint is it necessary to purchase a universal joint service kit? Or can I reuse the snap rings.

Rlith, did you need to buy any extra parts when doing your drum to disc conversion?

With the bulk of the impact from the mini van transferring its load to my rear axle, are there other mechanical parts that I should check for trueness before swapping in the ‘new’ rear axle/differential?

Thanks a lot for any suggestions

You won't have any problems with throwing a new rear on there, but I would have the frame checked out...
