stalling with no warning
hi i have an 88 wrangler with the 4.2 and a 5 speed trans it will just stall with no warning and start back up when left in gear it happens mostly at highway speeds but also happens at lower speeds from time to time i have changed the fuel pump, coil, cant the of the name of it right now but its the black box in the distribtor any help would be great thanks

I have a friend who had a 87 Wrangler that had a similar problem. It turned out to be the computer.

Does it start back up immediately?
I also had a friend that had his aftermarket speakers too close to the computer, which caused the problem (magnets + computer = )I'd also check the float bowl in the carburetor to make sure everything is clean and in proper working order; with a 20 year old carburetor you may have some issues. |

well it turned out to be the small computer that is under the coolent overflow bottle on the drivers side fender
