Red face Ignition switch Problems

I would to find out how to change out the ignition switch in my 1990 cherokee.The tumblers are shot ,and the colum at times unlocks from certain positions.

On your year, there is a lock cylinder in the column with a rod that connects to the actual switch at the base of the column.

If it's the lock cylinder you really need to change, you'll need a few special tools you can often borrow from a local autoparts supply (like AutoZone).

While you're there, pick up a Chilton's manual. It will have procedures and well as pictures to help you.

You can get a new switch at autozone with new keys.... It's a simple process just take your time and following the manual...It's cheeper than paying dealer prices for it...Like saudade said, autozone will have everything you need...
