Question 2000 Volvo S40 door lock button on dash?

Ok, I have a 2000 s40, love it. Cup holder broke, had it replaced at dealer. The power door lock switch is next to it above the radio. OK... is it supposed to light up like all of the other switches?? I could of swore it did. One person from Volvo said yes, the other no?? Need to know as warranty up in a few hundred miles. Thanks!

Re: 2000 Volvo S40 door lock button on dash?

I have a 2000 S40 as well and there is no light in the lock button...my cupholder is broken as well (seems like that happens a lot) -- was the dealer repair costly?
Thanks!

Re: 2000 Volvo S40 door lock button on dash?

I try to do minor things myself, the auto wrecking place was round $45, a new one just a few dollars more. Obviously I went for the new one. Around $100 I would say. I had the armrest repaired as well. They said the cupholder only takes a few minutes, yet since they were doing the armrest I had them do it all. Btw, I found out the door lock switch next to where the trip computer (if equip) does light up! The entire switch had to be replaced, the part was around $45 - 50 but well worth it.
