Suggestions on Tires

I have a 02 Yukon that I bought with 23k miles on it back in August. It came with 245/75-R16.The truck must have sat for a while because the tires are showing alot of dry rot on the sides. The sticker on the door says it should have 265/70-R16. What are the right ones to be on there and any suggestions on what brand to buy. I live in NJ so I do drive alot in the snow.

Re: Suggestions on Tires

Seems like 265x70x16 would have been factory. My '01 YXL were. My next tires will be Goodyear Fortera, Silent Guard.

Re: Suggestions on Tires

Michlin LTX is also a good tire for the suv's. I've had them on a gmc suburban, a expedition and now my denali. They have a quite, comfortable ride but still give good handling.

Re: Suggestions on Tires

Thanks for the Info. I see both of you are from the south. I would like also to here from people in the northern states who have driven in the snow. The tires I have on here now are horrible in the snow and rain.

Re: Suggestions on Tires

I put Falken's on mine last spring, they are ok, quiet at first, but a little noisy now. I had GY Fortera's beofre very quiet tire nice ride but didn't last long. Although I live in NY, I really don't drive it much in bad weather, 2wd w/TC. The little weather she does see, its been fine. RWD and MPG are a dream when traveling.

Re: Suggestions on Tires

Didn't wear long with a 720 treadwear rating ? That's strange. I'm going with them or the Michelin Cross Country.

Re: Suggestions on Tires

I put Kumos all seasons on my burb. LT 245-75-16.They do great in the snow. I had p245 but didn't like the sway in the burb. LTs took care of that. Oh,I live in northern Wisconsin.

Re: Suggestions on Tires

The original size is 265/70/17 or 265/70/16. I have Brand New factory wheels and tires mounted and balanced for less than you would pay for tires alone and I am on Long Island. If you are interested, I can ship them to you or meet you somewhere. Contact me if you want @ [email protected]
