Bird Bath

Still have a couple things to iron out. Gonna let a friend drive it that knows the F-Body better than I to determine if it is running correctly. Feels like it has NO power until around 2400 RPM's...which may just be the cam. Even then...just doesn't feel like it hits that hard. Maybe it picks up around 3500+
Gauges need installed. Going to hit that up Monday.
New BFG's need mounted along with an alignment. Sometime next week.

Anyways....
Much better....but the paint did suffer a little from the swap. Like a cheapass I didn't pick up quarter panel skirts.

Re: Bird Bath

WOW! That is a sweet looking car. LS1's in general don't make good power under 3000 rpm's. What size cam did you go with?

Re: Bird Bath

Current status.....snowing.
Shooting fire out the exhaust....and the best I can tell, it is tune related.
Got to ask some questions to a couple friends and see what I need to change.

Holy crap that is a big cam. I'm not at all surprised your having tuning issues with a beast of a cam like that. I'd find the nearest LS1 capable speed shop and let a pro tune that beast.

Good luck with that. Hopefully you'll get some great track numbers from her.

Re: Bird Bath

That is sorta the problem.

It needs a dyno tune...but I am going to break it in first.
Well...the place that will be dyno tuning it did a base performance tune for me...although it doesn't appear he did enough. I will get ahold of him Monday and see if he can help.

Don't you have a 402 in there? Did you drill out a small hole in your TB blade? Ok..as far as the no power below 3k..it could be your cam, but if its the tune, sounds like you might be loading up hard core on fuel. He needs to dial in your LTFTs(Long Term Fuel Trims) and adjust your primary and secondary VE Table(Volumetric Efficency(sp?)). Once he has this taken care of then he can start your power tune. He might have turned down your timing hard core too..who knows w/o seeing it but I doubt it. If yo'ure shooting flames out the back, I would think that's a very rich condition...but don't quote me.

I can't wait until you get that thing running. Its going to kick ass.

Extreme is getting started on my car. Can't wait...that and I'm moving to FL so I can drive my car year around WOOT!

3,000!!!!

Your Injector Flow Rate table. its in engine/fuel tab. what injectors do you have in there. not sure which update you have, but the newer IFRT has the numbers in each cell as xx.xx (42.00) which is your injectors vs the the old table which was x.xx(1.87).

Make your IFRT the same all the way across for now(if you have 42# injectors, put 42.00 in there). Then use your scan tool and drive around using different Throttle Position angles to get as many cells filled in the LTFT(Long Term Fuel Trims) histo-gram on the scantool and if the #s are positive...(I don't remember this part...but if it gets higher positive numbers..just do the opposite). Just add to those cells. Otherwise subtract. Make all your LTFT between 0 thru -7. once you have that taken care of, you have your injectors dial'd in. If you have questions, you know my AIM name...hit me up on there.

Matt
