I have a 99 explorer. When driving at any speed there is a vibration in the front end. the faster i go it gets louder. It goes away when i turn to the right. Does anyone have an idea what it could be?

Re: 99 Explorer vibration (Front End)

okay since many have looked and none have replied, I will try and give a bit more info, to see if I canhelp you help me.

Truck runs and starts fine.
Get up to about 35 mph and it starts to make a loud, I guess hum. (sounds like a truck whos tires are too big for it, best way to describe)
Vibration starts at about 50 mph and gets worse as you get into higher speeds.
There is a rattle, that I havent been able to locate, sounds like it is in the dash.
Truck vibrates under center console all the way to dash, steering whell doesnt vibrate though.
All noises stop when you turn.
Any ideas?
I am open to any suggestions.
Thanks

I'd check the hubs on your four wheel drive. If you have not had them serviced ( cleaned and re-greased) they may be partially engaging and causing your problem. Your symptoms are similar to what I had. I ended up replacing the hubs and cured it.

I've ran into tires that hummed no matter whether you rotated them or anything.

Re: 99 Explorer vibration (Front End)

On my girlfriends 99, I was worried about hubs, so I replaced one hub, didn't fix it, moved the replaced hub to the drivers side, still no fix, and it was the tires. They all hummed, no matter where you put them. Replaced the tires and it was all good.
