Interior lighting question...

.

We used to have a 1995 RWD Safari with rear dutch doors. When I lifted the rear dutch door, the interior light would automatically come on. Thus, allowing me to store cargo in the rear in lighted mode. I'm pretty sure it was lighted.

Now, we have a 2001 AWD Safari with rear dutch doors. When I lift its dutch door, its interior light does NOT automatically come on. But the interior lights do come on when we open the driver and passenger door. Therefore, its dome light override switch is NOT enabled.

If you have a 200x Safari with dutch doors, please advise if your interior light automaticially comes on when you lift its dutch door. Just wondering if an auto-switch stopped working on my Safari or if they stopped this feature in the 200x models.

thanks.

Re: Interior lighting question...

Update:

About a month ago, I was visiting my local automotive store and found a universal interior light with a manual off/on swithch. This clear lens light takes a 1156 bulb. Mounted it in the rear cargo area and connected it to the live wire going to trailer plug (7 pronge - Trailer's charge wire). When I need more light in the rear cargo area, I simply reach up and hit this manual switch. Man, talk about super bright. It's much lighter then its factory rear cargo light (when our front doors are open). From a light brightness perspective, this modification was well worth it. For a picture of the light that I installed, surf: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/12-vo...ayphotohosting

If you think you need more lighting in your rear cargo area, this trick might work for you too.
