coil pack

How does a bad coil pack react? Does it miss intermittently or go out completely?

Normally they start acting up some missing but it should throw a service engine code if the lights on most auto parts stores test for free.

It's a 1992, no engine codes

I figure $70 for parts so didn't want to rush in and exchange parts so quickly. I'm well versed on older ignition parts but don't know squat about coil packs.
