He gets 'like' and what he actually gets might be different.. tell him to keep his car in tune and he'll see it increase and also ask him to fill his tank of gas up and reset the trip, and tell us the actual mileage then.. I want to see this.

Im just saying because Ls1s get mid 20 MPGs..

Re: Miles Per Gallon

if you drive like a sane person then you can get great mileage out of an ls1. But who does that? OBVIOUSLY not that guy...12mpg???? Either he does a burnout at every light or he has to keep up with maintenance more.

Tell him to scan for codes, when my EGR valve siezed up, I was getting 12mpg... but it wasn't a noticable performance loss because it doesn't function at WOT. I have an LT1 but I think it's the same for everything.

my 87 iroc lg4 5speed was getting 7mpg city and 12mpg highway with sane driving. I also could only use premium gas (would not run with regular and would barely run with mid grade). mods were a K&N filter, true dual exhaust, and 3.73 rear

Re: Miles Per Gallon

Stop bullshiting for once at least. You either didnt pass math 7 in school or just live on a different planet. 12mpg (city) is the real number it gets. And thats a fairly good mlg.Just buy one snd see how the fuel gage goes down everytime you go fror groceries. My 350 gets 8 mpg in the best case- the car just passed emissions and runs perfect.. A 3.8l gets around 16mpg. A v8 fires 4 big cylinders for each revolution while a 4 fires only twice. Your values look like they are taken from a 4 cylinder powered car. My 1.8l bimmer gets 22mpg. You dont make power out of nothing.

Re: Miles Per Gallon

When cammed....my LS1 Trans Am got 22.5 MPG around town.
27-28 out on the highway.

Not bad for a car that made 376 RWHP.

Awesome, thanks. Will breathing mods raise or lower MPG?
