Rough Idle Engine Check Light On!

Hey Guys, hows it going.

Anyway, I have a 2001 Blazer 4WD with about 92,000 miles on it. One day I start it up and it runs like crap. Once it got to idle speed the RPM's where at a rough 500rpm's. Plus the engine check light is on. So I read through some forums here and heard some stuff about the EGR vavle. So I decided to take it off and clean it and I even turned on the engine to blow some of the carbon out. Well I put it back on and its still doing the same thing. Now Im thinking its probably just got to be replaced anyway, it hasnt been touched or replaced since I got it. I was also thinking about the O2 Sensors since they havent been replaced either.

-I would go get the computer scanned, but I dont have a Autozone around my area. Im not sure if it would be great to drive the truck to one, which I think is like 30miles away.

So if you guys have any other suggestions. That would be great.

-Thanks

Re: Rough Idle Engine Check Light On!

If you check engine soon light came on, as I'm sure you know, it has registered a error code in the computer. Troubleshooting without the code is near imposible, unless you want to start swapping parts out until
you find the bad one.(which I wouldn't recommend). That could be a costly repair, not to mention time consuming. We really need to know what code was stored to really accurately diagnois your truck. Ask a friend or neighbor if they have an OBDII scanner you could use. This will help us help you.
Thanks

O2 Senor was what I was really thinking too. In the mean while, ive been asking people for some Scanners, or maybe ill just say F&^K it and buy one or something, probably cheaper then getting the dealer to do the work, I can do it for sure, why else am I training to be an Automotive Tech. Anyway, ill let you guys know, thanks again!
