Unhappy Stalling problem

I have a 96 and today was the 2nd time it happened where I'm sitting at idle and the engine quits running.
I crank the motor over for 20-30 seconds and it will not fire, sputter, or anything. When I leave it set for a minute or so, it fires back up and as long as I'm going it never stalls, only when stopped, it doesn't matter if the car is in drive or park.
I've replaced the fuel pressure regulator a month ago or so, and the car usually runs great, no lack of performance that I can tell either.
I'm down around to a 1/4 tank of gas, but it happened the 1st time with about a 1/2 tank.

Could this be my fuel pump failing on me??

Any ideas or help would be greatly apprecitated!!

THX

Re: Stalling problem

I would look into crank shaft position sensors.

THX ghutcin!!

It has stalled on occasion when in drive at a stop light, but it would always fire right back up, so I got in the habit of slipping it into neutral when at a stop light, but this seems different in the fact that it quits and takes so many cranks to get it to fire up and when I was in the parking lot at work I tried to keep it running and it back fired and hesitiated before quitting.

Does this still sound like crank shaft position sensors??

Re: Stalling problem

I had the same problem in a 98', have someone check your Air Flow Regulator. Once mine was replaced it ran like new.

Re: Stalling problem

Did you get it scanned, to see if there are any trouble codes? There have been some recent posts, from people who have had some excellant suggestions, and recommendations.

Well... here's the deal... I take it in and get my recall done on the Fuel Rail, 9am appointment, mentioned when I called and brought it in I'd like it scanned for error codes.
Well... at 4pm and no call from my lovely GM dealer, I call them and he says that they scanned it and got 5 codes, they erased them, but he hadn't had the chance to run the car to see if or what error codes returned.
So I was pissed... grabbed the Green Hornet and I did get the 5 error codes cuz I thought I'd try to find a place that had a listing of what they were.

A co-worker I found out has a scan tool so we're going to see what that turns up.
