1999 GMC radio

after a few minutes with the defrost on my radio heats to almost burning you when you touch. has done this since i bought the tuck new. anyone know whats causeing this? is it going to damage the radio? nothing has happened to the radio so far.

I think the radio has a cooling fan. Sometimes you can hear it running after the truck is shut off. Maybe your cooling fan isn't working. Excess heat is never good for electronic devices, so you might have problems down the road.
