Accent runs good when cold - after 40 minutes engine races 4K and transmission slips

2002 Accent: When it is first started up, it runs like a sewing machine
After approximately 40 minutes of driving, the engine revs at 4K and the transmission seems to be slipping and car does not seem to have any power. Seems like it may be a sensor ????

Re: Accent runs good when cold - after 40 minutes engine races 4K and transmission slips

I recently had a problem with my 2000 Accent that was sort of like this. The weather had nothing to do with my problem but as soon as I hit the highway the car wouldn't hit 4th gear until after I ran the engine for about 15 mins. Then 4th gear would work. It was like that for a bout a month or so until one day I has on the road for an hour and it wouldn't hit 4th gear at all. Finally the engine wents nuts and was reving between 4th and 3rd every other second. When the engine was in 3rd gear I was hitting 4K.

Turns out I had to replace the rods and seals for the over drive.
