I was just wondering if it was possible to change my rear drums to rotors?
If so how? My car has rotors in the front drums in the back but i have drum brakes and I'm trying to change them to rotors. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Rear drums to rotors?
Year, make and model? Always include with your posts please. If you car is a rear wheel drive model (77-85 Delta 88) then the answer is Yes! You can swap the rear axle from a '90s Chevy Caprice or Impala SS. Check out one of the B-Body forums for more info on compatible donor vehicles.
If your car is front wheel drive, sorry but I can't help with that. . . |

Re: Rear drums to rotors?
Well my car is a 87 Oldsmobile ninety eight. It is a front wheel drive but I thought it was still possible. I have heard about conversion kits for cars that made it possible but when searching the forums I didn't find anything. I was just wondering if anyone knew where or how to get these kits.

There may very well be. Sorry but I know very little about the FWD models. . .

Try checking to see if the pontiac bonneville or chevy lumina kits might work.

Re: Rear drums to rotors?
You might try a Cadillac STS from the late eighties/early nineties if the rear hub has the same bolt pattern as your hub. You'll also have to check the wheel bolt pattern, but I would suspect the STS is 5x4 1/2. The following are things that may/will cause problems:
Master cylinder proportioning valve or residual pressure valve parking brake cable wheel clearances for the rear calipers rear track width There may be more issues to consider, but that's what I can think of.
