Question After replacing factory radio with an aftermarket one....

I noticed that the digital display on my electronic climate control won't dim when I adjust the dimmer control for the dashboard lights, but the digital instrument cluster will still dim normally. Kind of an annoying problem to have bright lights to contend with while driving at night. :-p
Anyway, the only thing I have different going on in the dash is that since my new radio doesn't support the dimmer feature, I've left that particular wire disconnected.
Has anyone else expirenced this problem? If so, how did you fix it? (If you did fix it) I'm currently playing with the notion of wiring a resistor onto the wire to simulate a lightbulb or two, and then connect the other end to ground. Of course, if anyone else has a better idea, then I'd like to hear it.

I have not run across that problem. Mine was after I changed radios I lost all my functions on the steering wheel for the radio and for the climate control. I guess that is the price you got to pay to have good tunes in ur car.

I guess I should be lucky that I don't have radio controls in my steering wheel to complain about. Nevertheless, I think it has something to do with that particular wire being disconnected.

While I'm thinking about it, I should be glad I still have heat, too.

I've read that there are some installation kits that will work with certain aftermarket head units and will also allow your climate controls and steering wheel controls to still work. Then again, I never had a car new enough for such a thing to be a concern yet. One car I had was so old ('77 Ford T-Bird) that when I had a new cassette deck installed in it back in 1995, that the guy had to install all new speaker wiring. Seems that the original wiring was set up for speakers wired to common ground while the replacement deck wanted each speaker wire to have its own ground. I was wondering why it took this guy over two hours to install the damn thing until he told me what he did after he finished the job.
