is tranny swap possible???

I am sick and tired of the damn 3 speed auto that comes on my 1990 cavy z24. Is it possible to swap tranny's with another vehicle that comes equiped with a 3.1l(same motor) but it comes with a 4 or 5 spd auto????

Please help!!!

Found out that they can be swapped with the 4 speed auto tranny that came on some car models. But someone told me that they weren't as strong of a transmission, and wouldn't advise it. He believed that the torque coverter off of a 4 cylinder auto cavy would fit on my tranny, and since it has a higher stall, it would help out with bottom end acceleration.
I'm still looking into the details. No one that I have talked to has ever heard of trying it.

i know on my car it's a transaxle, i'm wondering if you would have to replace the whole front axle, seems to me you would at least have to do a lot of work to take the transaxle of the engine and replace it.
