dimming lights

Every once in a while my headlights and dash lights will dim slightly while i am driving down the road. Only dims for a few seconds at a time but does happens often. Any ideas?

Alternator (do a search on this forum for the info). Check those battery connections for corrosion or looseness also.

Seems to be worse in the Winter and if yours isn't really that noticeable I would leave it. Mine has gotten better and doesn't do it anymore, maybe it will start up again. If you do a lot of night driving you may want to get your alternator changed to the new part # one. The part # changed to fix this condition.

On my 2001, this is caused by the air pump in the emissions control system. When they quit dimming, it was because the pump had failed. On a different thread, the response indicated this only occurs if the pump is drawing too much current- I can't confirm or deny that.

i have a problem kinda like that it started as dimming and after awhile it went to the headlights actually going all the way off every time i step on the gas it doesn't do it every time but it is starting to do it more often than before
