code 1404
I went to auto zone and had reading of egr valve malfunction. They said i need to replace it. My question is my gas always reads empty when i have gas, and my digital reading for my odemeter are all dead. I checked fuses they are ok. will the egr valve effect my digital odemeter lights and gas saying empty or is this 2 different problems? If so what is my problem? TY

Re: code 1404
Welcome to AF! First to answer your question the egr will not cause any of the problems you indicated with your guages or odometer. You may need to check the circuit board on the back of the guage cluster for bad connections as that would account for that issue.
As for the EGR valve, you may want to have someone remove it and clean it then check the wiring before you change it with another one. These are quite expensive and if this is a high mileage car you may want to just have it cleaned and reinstalled first to see what happens. |

Quote:
P1404 means that the EGR valve is stuck open.
