75 Silver Shadow Heating/Cooling

When I move the switches (in the center console) from heat back to
cool vent air, I am still getting heat out of the center vent. Any ideas
why? Pardon perhaps a novice question, but I am a novice having owned the car just a few months...more into Jags and Mercedes. THANKS!
