95 Lumina LS 3.1 won't start after ign. switch replacement

I have replaced the actutator rod, ignition switch and combination switch on my column shift. Also replaced key lock tumbler. When I turn key to start position, there are clicking noises in the engine compartment near the battery but no start. The check engine soon light and volts light remain on and the security light continues to flash. The battery appears to be charged. What could the problem be? Appreciate any advice. Wifes getting grumpy and wants her car back.

I believe you need to let the security system re-learn the key. I believe the proceedure is to put the key in, turn it to the on position and leave it for 1 hour. Then turn it off and try to start.

Okay, we tried that, but it still just clicks. Security light still flashes. Volts and Service Engine light remain on and car still won't start. Any other suggestions?

Question Re: 95 Lumina LS 3.1 won't start after ign. switch replacement

Did you reconnect the small 2 wire connector with white wires in it at the bottom of the steering column?, Same chip key as original I assume?

Oh! Light bulb! We had replaced key lock tumbler with after market product with no chip thinking that was the original problem before discovering the ignition switch actuator rod was broken. Once replacing with original key lock tumbler with chip key, varoom. Wife is happy. Husband is relieved. Hats off to you maxwedge!
