Oil in Throttle Body
Hi, I have a 89 Cougar with a 3.8L non turbo engine. I was doing a tune-up on the engine today and noticed there was a coating of oil on the inside of the throttle body that seems excessive. Does anyone know why I would be getting so much oil in my throttle body? Thanks.

Re: Oil in Throttle Body
Hi, RE oil in the throttle body on your cougar, First of all, Don't panic, This is common in all throttle bodys, comes from the pcv systems recirculation of the oil vapors, It's just doing what it is supposed to. Get a spray can of throttle body cleaner, NOT carb cleaner, Follow the directions on the can to effect the clean up. Last, replace the pcv valve along with your tune up and you should be all set....GOOD LUCK...Clay..
