Question 92 G20 - New heater blower sounds good, but no air!

The blower motor in our G20 conversion van gave out recently, and our local garage replaced it with a rebulit unit. It SOUNDS great, but delivers virtually no air to the dash or heater outlets at the base of the center console. It doesn't matter what setting we have it on - vent, heat, defrost, etc.

The old motor would only come on when it felt ready to after we turn switch on. Finally it came on no more.

The mechanic who installed it said he cannot figure out why. Could a solenoid controlling a vent flap be burned out? Could the heater core be clogged? Prior to the old motor failing everything worked fine, so I don't think our core could suddenly clog coincidentally....

Ideas?

Is the new fan turning ? If its rebuilt, the plastic fan may be damaged where it attached to the motor shaft and not spinning .

Yes. I pulled the fan body out and ran it to check. It moves a lot of air - got my fingers cold pretty fast holding the edge of the housing. The garage went to a junk yard to look at another old G20 van to see if the cage was the right cage. Apparently there are two types - one with AC one for without. The dealership suggested that the wrong cage type will not move the air. Can anyone confirm? We don't have it back yet to see...
