Concept Car

This link leads to pictures of a LS2 powered Camaro concept car that GM may mass produce in the next few years. Looks too much like a Mustang to me. Be nice if they brought the Trans-Am back, with different looks than this. This retro crap is going too far.

I must agree, this camaro looks like poo. I don't think the camaro needs to go the way of the Charger and Challenger with that retro trend. No offense to my f-bod bretheren, but I wouldn't buy that thing.

OK...you guys need to put the crack down now! It looks NOTHING LIKE A MUSTANG!! It screams 69 Camaro. It looks mean. I'd buy one if they would put a running horse on it! And yes, I can't wait to see a new Firebird also.

i like the original computer generated concept that was first put out a few years back...now that was a sexy car and still had retro influence. This one here....mmmm not so much. I know its horrible to say...but if i was in the market for a brand new v8....id be looking at mopar right now.

Yeah, for a combination of engine and body I could live with in a new car, I'd have to agree, at least at this point. Of all the retro cars being made or planned, I'd go for the Challenger concept that is listed in the same site. Not to contradict myself, I still would much prefer the sleek, original designs that the F-bodies had evolved into before GM abandoned us for the SUV crowd. They look like starships. No retro will ever compete with the "Mach 3 while it's standing still" look of a modern Trans-Am with all the cool trimmings they had developed: great spoiler, honeycomb tail lights, hood intakes that could inhale a toyota, etc. Watch, even the next Corvette will look like a 63'. Mr. Peabody, the wayback machine is out of control. By the way, GM failed in their loyalty to us, not the other way around.

New term: Retro="Muscle-Lite"

Not a fan of that Camaro concept. GM once again is showing how late it can try and jump on the band wagon. The retro craze is about a decade old now, and GM is now just showing this for a 2009 release? GM used to be an innovator, now they are just about dead last. I just hope they can turn this around before it's too late.

lol @ muscle lite. Honestly i think the bigger problem is GMs in ability to produce a v8 for a reasonable price that doesn't rival the corvette in performance. A base vette goes for 45 k and a loaded GTO goes for 40k ...WTF????? So for 5 k more i get a car that is way better looking and much faster...who the hell would buy a GTO??? GM needs to figure out a way to produce the GTO on US soil to keep cost down. Rebadge it, put a new front facia on it, cut out the frills an sell it for 25-28 k. You could call it a trans am, a camaro, a chevelle or a grand national..doesn't matter. They would have have a home run....even if it looked retro. WTF is wrong with them. Im totally disappointed.

Re: Concept Car

The only thing i dont like about the camaro concept is the grill. But overall i think its a nice car especially if it gets camaro/firebirds back into production.
