I have a 93 Chrysler LeBaron, 78K miles, and taken care of very well. Lately it has started do this funny thing where if I am stuck in traffic a lot or stopping in going the car seems to stop shifting. I can get up to 40mph but my RPM will go sky high and it will not shift at all. If I stop my car and restart it the problem goes away..... only to return later.
My grandpa normally works on my car and he said something about a sensor. I brought the car into a a mechanic who I trust and he said something about the car "limping". What does that mean? Will I need a transmission overhaul? Any help/advice is greatly appreciated! |

Re: Please help my tranny....
Check to see if your cruise control works. If it doesn't it MAY be your speed sensor. If it does work...you MAY need an overhaul.

Re: Please help my tranny....
Well, limp mode is for when your tranny goes woah, dam shit is not working like it should and it turns off computer control for the most part, the 604 is engineered to have 2nd for limp mode and it will still have reverse. Basically it is used to prevent further damage to it. There are a lot of things that go wrong with the 604's, I have built a few of them and will not do it again. I did it on mine, and a couple friends, none have blown again but these trannys are not good anyway, since then i have swapped out for a manual and then the next day after i did it i rolled it, so that was useless but it in in my garage getting re-built
