94 civic Hatchback

Got a nice winter beater/possibly everyday driver. 181,000 miles, i belibe its a 1.5 or a 1.6 liter, sohc non vtec.
Only paid 200 for it, no body rust minus for a 1/4" worth of rust on the hood. Interior is perfect (minus for the evil stereo wiring.... some cheap bastard didnt buy a 9$ stereo wiring harness, and cut the wires)... She burns oil. I believe its a broken ring, but im not sure. She moves, really fast for being as old as it is, it kind of suprised me.
Any way to get this thing to stop burning oil without doing a rebuild?
Btw, stock exhuast (with catty still), but a glasspack inplace of the muffler. And shes got a short ram intake with a cone filter.... i see oil going from the top of the valve cover (in that tube that goes from the valve cover to the intake), into the hose in the intake. and i see it in the intake.......... Is it possible for this to be blow by?
Thanks,
Bill

Re: 94 civic Hatchback

yes that is blowby. what is a glasspack?

blowby and burning oil = compression test. if she dont look good, the easiest and cheapest route is to swap the block.

Big rumbly sounding muffler device that hicks have on their big fat trucks so you can hear them coming a mile away.

Its extremely loud. lol. what should she get for readings for a compression test?
Thanks,

*edit*
What would have caused blow by? and what would it take to fix blow by, other than a block swap? thanks agian

Re: 94 civic Hatchback

if you say she burns oil, your going to need a compression and leakdown still.

Re: 94 civic Hatchback

Me and my buddies used to buy glasspack mufflers and drive the car for about 20 minutes until they get hot and then turn the car off and spray cold water in the muffler and you hear all the glass break. We then start it up and floor it to spray all the glass out and it sounds way more bad ass then it did before!!
