Which gear should I use
Hi, I was just curious on something.
I know I should use D as my main gear of choice when I am taking my 99' Blazer 4x4 down the highway. But what gear should I be using in city driving or with speeds below 50mph. I can feel my engine being bogged down slightly when I use D at certain times. Now don't get my wrong, my engine still has pep, but I can feel the engine straining in that gear. Thoughts? |

Re: Which gear should I use
It'll only shift into the next gear when you don't need the power and it'll get you better mileage.
Unless I'm towing a trailer I just leave my blazer on OD and let it do all the thinking for me. |

Re: Which gear should I use
I guess that I should say overdrive is the weakest gear on a transmission, and is not intended to be used tor towing or heavy loads.
A former boss of mine burned out his transmission towing with his new chevy 3/4 ton and they said no warranty because of that |
