Question Which Compressor?

I'm trying to decide on which compressor i should buy, i think its my next step in modeling, plus i can't spray laquers all the time due to bad weather around here. So just a quick question, which compressor should i get?

http://cgi.ebay.com/Paasche-D500SR-A...QQcmdZViewItem

Or

http://cgi.ebay.com/PAASCHE-H-AIRBRU...QQcmdZViewItem

What kind of compressor is this and how good is it? What is the typical life of a compressor and is there any maintenance involved?

Also Badger or Paasche?

I have a Paasche D500 compressor. My two complaints are:

1. It doesnt have an on/off switch but that one does so it must be newer.

2.Its louder then i expected it to be but you get used to it.

Other then that its great. Ive had mine for almost 3 years with no troubles at all.

That other compressor looks like a generic one and could vary in quality. you could have a hard time getting parts for it i something failed.

Neither. Do you live near a Pep Boys? This one is on sale for $49 after rebate.

Get a moisture trap for another $10 or so and spend the rest on a decent airbrush. It has a two gallon tank so it doesn't run the whole time you are painting and you can use it to keep all your tires properly inflated. Try that with a hobby only compressor.

Re: Which Compressor?

I also have a D500, but of those two choices I'd opt for the quiet compressor. As previously stated, the D500 is fairly noisy, but you do become accustomed to it and it's a reliable workhorse. It's my second D500; the first lasted me about 15 years with moderate use.
