Hey everyone. I have a 1990 CRX DX, and I'm looking into engine swaps. I've decided I want to swap a new engine in to get more power. And I was wondering what was the best chouce for a CRX. Any info, sites, prices, anything would be helpful. I can do all the work myself. I just need to know where and what to get. Thanks.

if you have alot of money then i say go b18c1 but if cash is alittle limited then i say go b16a1. you need to get motor mounts, new axles, i would say buying a new wiring harness, some people like to modify there existing one but i dont like doing that
sorry idk good sites |

regarding the b16a swap
i also have a 90 crx and would like to throw a b16 in it...
do i need new axles for that conversion or is that only for the HF model...? i am aware that you need new mounts and a harness but dont you also need a new ECU whats the b16a rated for power? thanks i look forward to hearing from all you crx'ers |

i think but i am not sure that you use 90-93 integra axles with that same year intermediate shaft, yes you also need a new ecu. i think its the pr3 for b16a1.
b16a1: 160 hp, 111 tq |

Axle huh...
and the axles that are required are the little 10 long basturds that go to the wheels right
do those cost $$ deluxe or can you find then in Vons in the cereal and bread isle? i'm still a little foggy as to how the VTEC on then new engine is controlled.... isnt it hydraulically actuated and wouldnt that mean there needs to be a hydraulic actuator too? maybe i just have a view of my colon right now let me know duders thanks civickiller |

vtec is controlled by the ecu. if you have the si or hf, you use the stock wiring harness on the b16 motor, and run 4 extra wires in order for vtec to work properly. with the 90-93 axles, you need to remove the dust seal in order for them to fit properly.yeah you need the pr3 or pw0 that comes with the jdm b16a.
