Re: front brakes

If you dont have one already I would suggest a repair manual first and foremost. They can be bought at most auto part stores for 15-20 dollars. After that all you should need is a c clamp a hammer and a brass drift or something like it.The front caliper should be held on by 2 tension pins.Basically 2 metal sleeves with rubber in the middle.Drive those out with your hammer and drift and the caliper should slide off.Once it is off then use the c clamp and one of the old pads to compress the caliper piston.Pop the new brake pads in reseat the caliper and use your hammer to drive the new pins in.Even if the old ones look good go ahead and replace them anyway because they will break down over time and loose their pressure.Good luck. And also the chilton or haynes manuals are the most common books to get and both are about equally helpful.

Re: front brakes

To do it right you will need to remove the lock out hubs , manual or auto. Then you will need special 4 prong socket for the double lock nuts. After pulling hub and lock nut remove washer and second lock nut. After that the outer wheel bearing will come off and also the rotor will be able to be removed for machining. This is the time to clean inspect and repack your wheel bearings. If you never did front brakes before this is not the one to start on.
