faded to nothing
I just got my car back after a few days without. MAF sensor caused all the other headaches. Anyway, driving to the store I noticed dim headlights. On the way home, I noticed really dim lights. When I was almost home, the instrument panel started dimming, then one by one the electrical systems in the car started failing. Alternator/ battery light, abs/trac, airbag, power loss, then it died as I pulled in the drive.
Last week I bought a new battery and alternator. Which one did I screw up?

Re: faded to nothing
Was the battery fully charged when the alternator was put on? This sounds like a bad alternator.

I'm sure I'm too late in saying this, but you should not have hooked up the alternator and ran the car. If the battery runs down, you want to fully charge the battery and then run the car. With a drained battery, the alternator is pushing out full load trying to charge that battery and you can in effect ruin your alternator. |
