There should be a connection on the choke side. One wire (black) goes between the choke and the carb body. The other (red) hooks into your car's electrical system - a wire that's energized only when the ignition is on.

No that won't work, as that is only energized when the windshield wipers are on!

On my old '75 Grand Am, when I installed a Carter AFB on it (same carb, in fact the original to what you have), I tied into the blower motor on the A/C as it always ran whenever the engine was on due to the forced ventilation aspect of that car's A/C system.

What kind of car are you installing it on, what model year? I believe they used the forced ventilation from '71 through '79 - not sure on the last year as it might have been used into the 80s. Any car made from about '80 on should have come factory with an electric choke, if your car is newer than this you should already have the wire for the choke, just splice into it.

Re: Is my E Choke Dead or something

It is an 84 Caprice. I originally had it hooked th the wire from the old choke, but the car would not start. So I after tring a few things, I assumed that without those computer connections hooked up, the choke would not get any power. Is this correct. If not could you give me some other ideas of what to chec on why the car won't start.
