87Range Rover Overheating?

My 87 Range Rover is overheating. But sometimes it will run extremely cold. I'm not sure what the problem is. Can anyone help?

Lightbulb Re: 87Range Rover Overheating?

My Range Rover -73 hade problems with overheating. I discovered that the cooler/radiator was only warm at the top. So, I replaced it and now there is no sign of overheating. (neraly all cells was blocked, not providing enough colling)

Check when engine is hot if the whole radiator is warm. If it is, check the thermostat. It sits where the top hose from radiator goes to the engine. You could try replace it.

Also, if your engine never gets warm, is there enough water in it? Do you get heat inside the car?
Could maybe be the thermo sensor on the engine.

That can be tested by removing it and place it in bowling water. Measure the sensor and se if it react with different resistance. (get a cheap multimeter)

The thermostat could also be tested in bowling water to see as it open when hot and close when cold.

Sorry for my bad english.
Hope you understand, else ask me
