Which sensor is this again?

I know it's been a while since I've posted, but for those of you who know me, you know why.

I've wanted to get the CRX back in shape and there are a few things I need to do and the one of them is to replace the sensor that makes the idle go all crazy up down up down you know the deal. Instead of me scratching my head for hours, I'm sure someone can spit this out pretty quick.

Thanks!

Re: Which sensor is this again?

its called an idle air control valve....or IACV....it has two little coolant passages, a solenoid, a big plastic screw and a port for ambient air to pass through.....

Re: Which sensor is this again?

Also known as EACV - Electronic Air Control Valve...

not to hijack, but I was wondering someone a long time ago either bambam or 91civicdxdude said that you can remove the FITV (Fast Idle Throttle Valve) cuz you really don't need it. My fan stays on with ignition so I've been wondering about it. Think its below on the right side of IM...

Re: Which sensor is this again?

Most people call it the IAC valve, pronouncing the I-ACK.

anyway, yes that is it in the picture you posted quixilver.

turtle, do you have your fan wired to run at all times, or is it a wiring problem? probably something youd what to look at rather than removing the FITV, it could cause hard starting if the fuel mixture is incorrect in cold temperatures.

Re: Which sensor is this again?

I was wondering where I could get that IAC. Anyone know where I can get one for my b18a?

Re: Which sensor is this again?

the parts store wanted 190 frickin' dollars for it.

on ebay they don't specify what it's for, are they all the same for the same year? or differ between motors?

It's a botched relay but still works through harness so I left it and wired the fan to stay on with ignition. I'm just going to leave it as is...
