MP3 IN 2005 Tahoe

I have a decontented 2005 Tahoe PPV with the basic AM/FM radio and wanted to swap it out with a factory MP3 player.

I'm one of those guys who prefers the factory look and wanted a Chevy MP3 player in my Tahoe.

I've read some posts about the problems people have with data link radios and their noninterchangeability but I was able to do it and it wasn't so bad.

I would have bought an MP3 player from my local dealership and had them put it in but they told me I couldn't get one for my Tahoe because Chevy didn't make one for the Tahoe.

That being said, I bought a 2004 Chevy Colorado MP3 player on eBay for about $150 and spent four hours at my local Chevy dealership waiting for them to install it and reprogram it for my car. They spent hours on the phone with tech-help over some confusion with codes and such so I left and went to another dealership only to waste two more hours going through pretty much the exact same thing. Both dealerships told me that it couldn't be done.

I went home, did some research, made a few calls and learned that it can be done.

I sent my MP3 player to United Radio in NY http://209.238.89.122/Automotive/auto_main.asp and they were able to unlock it, reprogram it for my Tahoe (based on my RPO codes), and send it back to me for all for about $60.

I plugged it in, and it works great. No problems, no codes, and all the door chimes and other data link stuff that runs through it works. It was as easy as plug and play.

I hope this helps.
