89 Silverado brake light problem

Hey guys,

I've read about the problems other owners are experiencing, and was wondering if the same goes for me? Bulbs, fuses, new switch all good, but still no brake lights. What could be the problem?

Aloha,

Re: 89 Silverado brake light problem

I had an 88 that had the same problem, it was the wires under the rear bumper on the drivers side. They simply corroded and fell apart at a connector.

Aloha,
I had the same problem on my 1988 truck. The circuit board is the part the bulbs screw into. "Bulb mounting plate" might be a better term. The originals are crap. I had to replace both of mine. I'd check ebay before I bought from the dealer.

Thanks for the info. Dealer here wanted 99.95 per side, found some at ck resto for 19.95 hows that. Friend here told me the same thing about those mounting plates. Thanks again.

Aloha from Hawaii,
Mike

I don't know about every part store, but I sale Grote and they sale the boards separate for this pickup. They are about $25.00 each.
