93 Accord Engine Problem
I was driving the other day and doing about 60 and all of a sudden the car died. The tach went to zero and the speddometer was slowly loosing speed as I slowed down. The radio, lights , and blower motor were working when it happened and continued to work after.
I tried to restart, the starter engaged but it would not fire...i am not sure if it is a timing thing where the spark and gas were out of phase. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!!! |

Re: 93 Accord Engine Problem
When was the last time you changed the timing belt and how many miles on the car? Take the oil filler cap off and while you are looking inside the valve cover, have somebody crank the engine. If the camshaft turns, your timing belt is probably OK. Then see if you have spark when you turn the engine over. If not, then there are a bunch of tests that need to be done to troubleshoot the problem.

Re: Re: 93 Accord Engine Problem
It ended up being the ignition module inside the distributor. It is a very expensive part so I used a whole distributor from a junk yard for $120.
Can anyone tell me if a 93 Accord has an interference engine? I bought the car used with 155,000 miles on it about 4 months ago. |

Re: 93 Accord Engine Problem
yes, it has an interference engine.
you definately want to change the belt before it breaks. and being that the car is 13 yrs old, probably not a bad idea cheers! |

Re: 93 Accord Engine Problem
Wow, $120 from a junk yard? That's pretty pricy. I got one not long ago for $25. It's probably the igniter inside the cap.
