What do you think I should do?

Hey guys, I'm a weebit at a crossroad..... My mom has just made the proposition that I can either A. take her 2004 Pathfinder (bout 70k miles) or we can start searching around for Blazers.... My only problem is this: I like the Pathfinder but for one, it sucks because its only 2wd whereas if I get a Blazer I'll only get it if its 4wd, and then for two I hate the gold paint and the rear hatch look of it (though I know its only the looks but still and for paint I could just take it to a shop and have it repainted...) But what do you all think that I should do? Take the Pathfinder (it's in good condition, been maintenanced (though it does have a really annoying screeching sound coming from the engine which I think may be a bad belt or something), but I also plan to go offroading and I'd prefer to have 4wd), or take a Blazer? Thanks....

I would take the 2004 Pathfinder

And as of 2004 they stopped making Blazers. The Trailblazer is expensive
for 4WD $33000 for the 2005 LS LT Models The 2WD is $28000..
You could shop around and search for a older 2002 ZR2 2DR. LS 4X4 Blazer
The Blazer is good for zipping around town but when it comes to climbing up
huge mountain roads and 4Wheel Driving thats another story...
The 2004 Pathfinder you could always repaint the vehicle....
Good Luck in your search for your perfect vehicle...

Re: What do you think I should do?

If you really want a 4x4 trade the pathfinder for a Blazer. But if your serious about alot of four wheel driving you may want to choose something else, or a truck.

Well I mean, I'm not going to go 'serious' offroading just some mud holes and whatnot in the area that I live in, but I wouldn't really feel as comfortable doing so with a rear drive vehicle and I'd also use it as a daily driver..... As for like the year or anything, I don't really mind what year it is as long as its the 98+ S-10 style (I really love the look of it, especially the torch red or black), also, I read in a Car and Driver magazine that the ended production year was actually 2005..... Well, thanks, and keep respondin' I suppose.... :ater

That is correct, 2005 model Blazers (in 2 doors only) were produced until late '04 or early '05. There are probably even still a few available on dealer lots.

The 2 door Blazers look way better than any Pathfinder in my opinion, but what else can you expect to hear when you ask a bunch of Blazer guys! For mild off roading the regular 4wd Blazer will do, for more serious fun it's hard to beat a ZR2.

Re: What do you think I should do?

i hate saying it, and ill deny it all the way, if you want to go off road, and have lots of options on what and how to go with a vehical, get a jeep, i prefer an older cj over some pussy thing like a liberty, and old c jeep, 4.0 and you can have some fun

Yeah, I agree with you, thats what I think as well, I love the looks of Blazers over Pathfinders.... So you think I should go with a Blazer? I'll probably go with the ZR2 and get the fender flares painted the color of the car

biv343- Haha, well I can only get one or the other

dmbrisket 51- Well, I'd like to go offroading but I'd also like to use it as a daily driver and my bud has a jeep cherokee (99 sport 4 door) and his is decent for offroading, but I don't really like hte looks of them that much... Also, as well as that, my mom's husband actually owns an 86 Jeep CJ-7.... It's in pretty good condition, needs new brake cylinders and then some other cosmetic work (as well as to be tuned up), but yeah, I'm more into Blazers.... But if it comes down to it, I wouldn't mind taking a 2000+ GC, but with it, I'd also like to have an 'rugged' look to it with things such as like a bullbar, maybe fender flares (may look stupid on a GC), big lift, nice 31-34 inch tires....

Yeah, keep it up guys, I'm really appreciating all the opinions

Actually a hummer H3 used go for around 23-25K, there only 29K new. If your really serious about blazers though i would difinatly go after the ZR2 blazer.

Well, I suppose nothing if I would actually go under enough water or mud that it would matter, but, I'm not, and yeah.... Haha, I believe I'll start looking for a Blazer ZR2 rather than just a Blazer
