Dashboard Lights not on

The lights that illuminate the climate control knobs on my dashboard do not turn on when I turn on my headlights. They worked for about 2 years after I bought my car (new), then the lights would sometimes not turn on. Now they do not turn on at all when I turn on the headlights. The lights for the radio area of the dashboard do turn on.

Any information on fixing the climate control lights would be greatly appreciated.

Went to VW dealer and got a replacement lamp. Put it in and it worked.

P/N N-017-751-2 for $2.48

I found a post about replacing the lamp...

"The fan control switch MUST be in the straight-up-and-down position when you pull it out. And be gentle or you may mess up the 'guts' of the switch. Then your blower won't work.

There is only one bulb that illuminates the three controls..."-it's a little guy, about 3/16" diameter and 3/16" long.-DW
