91 Bravada anti-lock & brake lights ON
My 91 Bravada, TBI, is losing brake grip slowly when stop in front of traffic light, I have to press brake pedal more and more slowly, because I can feel the car trying to move with my "current" pedal position. Yesterday, I had the pedal gradually to floor at one time, the Anti-Lock and Brake lights then came on, and stayed on. I will update with the code readout tonight by shorting the terminals A & H. Any fix suggestions now?

Re: 91 Bravada anti-lock & brake lights ON
If you have rear drums, adjust them and clean them.
The anti lock is easy to find out why that code is on, you need to get apiece of jumper wire(12+ numerically higher guage is fine) and put it on your test port under the sterring column and put that wire( ends stripped off) in the A and H port.( A port is the top right port, H port is on the bottom row left side, 2nd port from the left) It will flash just like your engine light does with a code reader. good luck.

The A & H codes were 14 and 62, Bravada is AWAL, could not find the meaning of code 14, but code 62 is "reset switches" according to shop manual. I cleared the code, but I think the problem of pedal sinking slowly is still there. Maybe something somewhere leaking? Thanks guys for any suggestions.
Update: code 14 indicates the diagonastic circuit check OK. Shop manual said clear the code 62, road test, if code comes back, replace EHCU. I cleared the code a few days ago, but the code came back yesterday when I have to apply the pedal to floor almost. What do you think guys? Last edited by wbchang; 01-10-2006 at 07:31 PM. |

Re: 91 Bravada anti-lock & brake lights ON
A bad master cylinder can also cause the pedal to drop down.
Engine off apply brake pedal lightly and watch pedal height and for pedal seap down. Then try it with engine running. Also bleed all 4 wheels and adjust up rear brakes. Are you losing any brake fluid. Are brakes holding good on all 4 wheels? No code 14 for ABS brakes But like the code 62 says you may need to replace the EHCU. Go threw the repair flow chart for that code. MT
