Engine Swap Help, I Am About To Give Up

I have been on the search for an engine and I have been learning a lot as I go. I am, however at the point of maddness. One company is telling my that their swaps (b18c) are easy enough. OBDI and OBDII i guess I understand. Let me lay the ground work. I have a 98' ex, and I want a GSR in it. The cash isn't a problem. I am just trying to why I cant get a strait answer about this whole mess. Like say I buy an engine that is pre '96, that means obdI, why do I need to splice wires if i am replacing the ECU? or if I buy a post '96 how will this help me. Please post, e-mail, anything you can that can help me. I don't want to drop 3 grand and end up with a bad ass lawn piece.

just buy a complete 96-98 gsr swap and you'll be fine...you can do an older one, but you'll have to rewire the distributor and the injectors if i'm not mistaken...i'm doing the same swap this weekend on my 96 EX, so i'll let you know how it goes considering yours would be identical.
later.

I thought it wasn't street legal to put an older engine into a newer car.

Technically it's not. I don't know if individual states can allow it or if it's a federal thing, but I've read the vehicle code and I know we're not allowed in Pennsylvania. Whether or not you'll get in trouble for it is another story, I guess.
