Angry Gas Cap** HELP ME!!

Ok this sucks. Can someone please give me a bit of advice?
My gas cap on my Jetta WILL NOT COME OFF. (It's not the factory issued cap, it's a replacement) but anyway, it's been really cold out, not sure if that is a factor. The damn thing will spin and make the noise but it won't catch and then come off. Should I try pouring warm water around it, to see if perhaps its frozen--or would the water somehow seep into my tank? AHHH! Help please! Thanks in advance!

If the cap is clicking then one of two things is happening. Either you are not turning the cap counterclockwise or the top of the cap is sripped. Try pressing down on the top of the cap very firmly while turning counter clock wise, like opening a medicine bottle. If that doesn't work you may have to use plyers and remove the top of the cap (difficult to do) so that the inner cap is exposed and then you should be able to unscrew the rest of the gas cap. The cap will need to be replaced either way.
