Question 1999 300m

I'm thinking of purchasing a 1999 300M. 127,000 miles, one owner, loaded and seems to be in excellent condition. What should I expect? Anything in particular for my mechanic to look for or check? Buying it as a commuter car for the wife, 30-40 miles per day. thanks.

Re: 1999 300m

well, I think you can expect better-than-hoped-for gas mileage. The trip computer on my '99 shows 30mpg at freeway speeds.
I just replaced the tires on mine and they were pricey ($630 for all 4). Many places don't stock the size.
I'm about to hit 100,000 miles on the car (bought it at 53k) and have had no serious problems with it, other than one of the fan motors burning out.
I think you'll love the car. It's exciting and 'new' to me still after 3 years, and it feels like a million bucks.

Good luck!

Re: 1999 300m

I'm on my second '99. My first I bought new and sold at 155,000. No major problems other than the window motors being a potential problem. The motor vendor was replaced in '00. Yours should be okay by now, just keep the weatherstripping coated with light coat of silicone. Many times the input or output sensors go out, but you can replace them yourself for considerable savings over the "no-star" dealer. Other than that she should be good to go. I am on my second 99 M with 70k on the clock. I love it. Be sure to check out 300mclub.org, THE most definitive 300 M club anywhere. If you need help we have it. A good group of people, most supportive. Check it out.
