Tranny loses fluid .

My wife 96 GA loses tranny fluid only when it is going on the road/street.I don`t see any where she parks her GA,We had a new radiator put in not to long a go. Do you think Maybe the tranny fluid is coming out where it goes into the radiator?. I can put in a quart of fluid and she gose and drops off the kid at school, when she gets back it shows nothing on the dip stick.About five mile ride.

i believe there are 2 hoses that run to the radiator from the tranny. they arent to big. worth checking anyways. had the same prob when i changed the tranny in my former 94 dodge spirit.

If they changed your rad and the tranny on your car has cooling lines that go there I would check them out since it seems you did'nt have this problem before. The lines will leak when the car is running because its under pressure and they'll probably spray pretty good during that time. To lose a quart in a 5 mile trip there has to be a wet spot somewhere . Follow the lines if you have any. Kinked, crimped, where they are bracketed to the car (they can get a rub hole) and where they screw into the rad -stripped, crossthreaded. Sometimes they drip at the rad where they screw in and look perfect but still leak--cracked flange or they did'nt seat properly. If you have trans fluid in your rad it will mix withe the anti -freeze and make pink milk don't know what color it would make with Dex-cool. Also this mixture WILL become your tranny fluid- that would mean a broken cooling line in the rad but I don't see that from your post. There HAS TO BE fluid coming out check it while its running. If you have a dipstick and the tranny vent is clogged it will burp out fluid also but hav'nt seen that in awhile. Good luck. Filler up-Turn er on and find that leak.-------Chris

wheels63, the older GA trans lines are good about rusting out. Since you had the car serviced they probley tuged and twisted the lines, their for causing a leak. And a good one from what you stated above. So you sure as hell should see a very wet undercarriage. Good Hunting
